We say farewell to both Renee Payton and Alan West this week. We wish them both the very best for the year ahead and thank our Heavenly Father for their work here at the College.

Alan has been with us for 3 years and has greatly contributed to College development, particularly our Sports program and student leadership.

Renee has worked at the College for 5 years and in that time has taught all of our classes and developed our much-loved Outdoor Education program.

We will miss you both very much and look forward to hearing exciting news of what next year brings. We also say goodbye to the Wallace, Clementz, Hurley and Aylett families. We wish you all the very best for the future.

Our Year 6 students celebrated their graduation last week with family and staff over a wonderful dinner, followed by a fabulous graduation cake before we enjoyed the more formal part of the evening. Laughter and tears were all part of the evening as we said farewell.

Thank you to Mr West and all the volunteers who made this event possible. We pray God guides the Year 6 students in the next stage of their lives.

Meet our new teachers! Yesterday our two new teachers enjoyed a transition afternoon with their future students. Keren Saxon will be joining us as our Year 2/3/4 teacher in 2018.

Mrs Saxon comes to us via Mooroolbark East Primary School where she has taught for the last 12 years. John Monastirli will be joining us as our Year 5/6 teacher in 2018.

Mr Monastirli has been teaching and tutoring for the past 15 years. We look forward to welcoming Mrs Saxon and Mr Monastirli to Heritage College.

Last night we celebrated the end of the 2017 school year with our school presentation evening. We enjoyed musical performances, singing from the choir, awards and the grade 6 students were presented with their graduation pens. We continue to thank God for blessing us with a wonderful year.

Yesterday our students enjoyed a ‘free dress’ day and were asked to bring a gold coin donation as part of the student councils fundraising for Agape in Action. The students learned about how Agape in Action helps children less privileged than themselves and together we raised $61.20. The student council hope to continue raising money for this great cause in the new year.

Our parents and students were welcomed at school last week to the sight of tie dye t-shirts drying in the sunshine. On Tuesday many of our students wore their new t-shirts to school. It’s always great to see children enjoying art and coming up with creative ideas. A huge thanks to Mrs Vanan and her helpers.

Our Year 2/3/4 class enjoyed an end of year excursion to the Melbourne Museum recently. They braved the rain and enjoyed learning about prehistoric creatures, the history of toys and the heritage of the Aboriginal people.

Could all 2018 Summer Unform Orders please be placed by 20 December.

Congratulations to Leah Galante who obtained an A and Ebony Morrison who obtained an A+ on their Grade 1 piano exams.

Great effort, girls!
